Never had braces so when I asked at the unit I was floored on cost. Thanks!

If you are already hitting 3k cap, then I would look hard at the supplements, they may save you money. In my case they wouldn't, but we don't get anywhere near the cap.

Had never paid attention before but apparently around here the school fundraisers will have $1000 to $2000 off braces in the school auctions and raffles from local docs. A friend got one of the $2000 for a $500 bid/donation to the school fundraiser.

Will look when I hit training. We are looking at 2 surgeries and one hospitalization a year for a couple more years so we know we will hit the max. Prime would be better but when this all started the base was full so our child was sent to an off base doc who is the one who caught the issue early and has been completely active in researching various issues side issues and effects and getting us to the best and right specialists. The base went below capacity and refused to let us stay off base for continuity of care reasons (even after 2 appeals) so we went standard we decided 1K/3K was worth the piece of mind for keeping the same doc and it being this doc. My wife was crying at the thought of having to explain all the issues to a new doc every six months at the base with turnover esp at a training hospital. She actually went standard herself after this when she got 3 PCM change letters in the mail between her annual appointments so she technically had 2 PCMs she never saw.

I agree. If you are hitting the max every year, supplements may indeed help. Aslo check out the MOAA Mediplus supplement.
