The catch is you're in a Guard squadron attached to an active duty wing...
But given that the 38 portion of it is mostly part timers, sounds like it could be a heck of a deal if you want to live in the area and don't desire the airlines. I like the idea of a part time CC, we need to get more of that back in the Guard.

Who aspires to an OSS/DO? Yuck. Another airfield management meeting, hooray! That job sucked when the airlines weren't hiring.

I'm sure it's different in the guard/reserve but I remember active duty OSS was for folks who did not want to be in the squadron and/or squadron problem children. Of course, there were a few who just wanted to "get away".

Did you ever spend any time in the Guard? If your only experience is Active Duty then I can understand the negative comments. However, if someone bailed off Active Duty prior to getting their 20 in this could be a great opportunity to get that retirement (and most importantly medical) at age 60. Good flying job with a great bunch of guys, minimal BS, and a great location.
