Ok...FWIW its relatively the same mech in the jet that we did in road recces and the same that was done when I got a backseat ride in a T-45 in El Centro, just without bombs...the idea being to ingress a target, drive to a pop up point and execute the attack(without weapons symbology - building block approach). The pops that you're using now were put in the T-45 syllabus to get a bit more of the actual pop mechanics that we use in the Hornet/Superhornet so its not foreign to the student at the FRS but I hear what you're saying...

T-38 A/C is mediocre at best, so students put it full-cold. This makes it ice-up and clog. The technique to thaw the ice is to go full-hot, but the A/C has a nasty habit of the mixing valve getting STUCK there.

The real solution was a) don't put it quite full-cold, and b) don't go full hot, and c) be ready to hold it in MANUAL COLD for 6.9 seconds if it runs away hot!

Satan is screaming "shut the heat off!" Like all Japanese students, they interpret things literally, and he can not find anything labelled "OFF."

Ironically, if he had said "RAM DUMP!", the kid would have thrown one switch, shutting down the A/C, and problem solved.

This happened about 10 years ago, and students still got Friday Nametags with a callsign, which stemmed from a naming ceremony based on funny stories of buffoonery and laced with lots of alcohol.

This kid's nametage was "O-F-F," (With hyphens), pronounced "OHH EFF EFF!"

Satan supposedly was at Air Tran/SWA. I've heard that tape is used at FedEx for a CRM what NOT to do.
I have no idea what IFF is but it was and still is hilarious. As for Satan, we all have ours...that guy was a gem however. I'm sure that clip is used in multiple venues, we used it in a CRM lecture a few times in the Hornet community.

It is the fighter-specific basic training; advanced tactical formation, advanced handling/performance, weapons employment, 1 v 1 perch set-up and high-aspect dogfighting to a basic tail-aspect WEZ, basic and tactical pop-up bombing and surface attack, low-level tactical navigation and sorta-basic CAS.

The actual syllabus is tailored to the mission set of the specific aircraft a student is assigned as a follow-on.

The focus is on teaching a student how to transition from being a vanilla "T-38 pilot" into being a "fighter wingman", so there is a lot of attitude and mentality adjustment that is a large component of the program, too.

If only we had those new Martin-Baker seats in my time as an IFF IP, instead of the 40 pound back parachutes, maybe my L5/S1 disk would still be intact... No joke, I loved that assignment, but it jacked up my back.
