Yes if you go directly into SELRES, TRS will cover you but it will have to be back-dated once the paperwork catches up.
In the meantime, pay out of pocket and get re-imbursed (use TRS eligible providers).
Make sure your transfer from AC to SELRES (drilling reservist) is seamless. If they put you in the IRR or separate you completely you are NOT eligible for TRS during that period and there may be no way to fix it after-the-fact (other than congressional intervention).
