The US Air Force has been locked in a years-long battle over the retirement of the famous U-2 spy plane. In the meantime, Lockheed Martin has unveiled what could be the successor to the U-2. It’s called the TR-X, and it could be ready as early as 2025, according to Lockheed.

Outstanding!
They can buy that after they figure out how to fund:
1. F-35
2. KC-46
3. CSAR-X
4. T-X (T-38 replacement)
5. Sustain T-1 or replace that?

All of these bills come due well before a new acq program can be entertained.

Sounds like a great advert from Lockheed. They need money, too. And the teats are all empty!

They're only fiscally conservative with everything EXCEPT Defense. We could EASILY cut defense spending in half and still have the preeminent military on Earth. We spend more than the next 29 countries COMBINED.

When Emgland truly the seas, their policy was to spend twice what the next two highest countries spent. To paraphrase Ike, beware of the military-industrial complex. This from the General who led the greatest combined military force in history. We should listen to him...

Contractors float these trial balloons to generate interest and show that they're still in the game, but if they actually get an RFP for such a craft, the Cone of Silence will descend.

I lol'd.

Tax-spend-then tax-and-spend-even-more liberals don't get to talk about fiscal conservative ANYTHING without bloated, hypocrisy-dripping irony.
