Consequences of expired Navy flight physical
I was wondering if any fellow Navy reservists might have the answer to this one. I'm a 1315 in a non-flying billet. My flight physical expires November 30th and due to a variety of factors (new house, new baby, new job, reserve unit 2000 miles away), I haven't been able to get my physical completed. I've given up on trying to fly in a VR squadron, so I'm curious if the physical is even necessary. Will I lose flight pay when I do my annual training each year if it's not current? Any other consequences?

Not sure how it works on the reserve side exactly, but you will lose your flight pay. I'm sure they don't stop it on day one, but they will eventually catch it. I asked the question when I was on a non-flying tour at one point. I assumed I didn't have to do it....glad I asked.

I did a non flying tour on a carrier where several aviators on ACCP let their physicals drop. If the command doesn't send anything in stopping ACCP and you have met all of your gates, etc, flight pay will continue. Just beware, the Navy, as you know, is notorious for getting back every dime they have overpaid you, so if it ever catches up with you I am sure they will take it back.
In the case that I was in, nobody on the carrier cared and when guys got to their next command, they re-upped their physicals and life was good.
I would talk to your XO or the most senior aviator there and see what they say. I know if it was me I would just say to get it as soon as you can and not to worry about it.

I would email your CO and the NOSC CO and let them know you are working on the issue, and to get some help and documentation you are pursuing it.
Appreciate your effort and Service.

In either case you'll need to get your annual physical/pha done otherwise you'll be in a hard hold status and you wont be able to execute AT or ADT regardless. Your NOSC should annotate that your flight physical isn't up to date and stop your flight pay(if they are doing their job).

If you're a reservist call your nosc for your consequences. On the ad side if you start the physical before the date you can get it extended for a while. If you're not on a flying tour you just have to do a full long form physical within x days or expiring end then it gets more in depth the longer it goes.
