When I was a young fighter pilot, a sage old O5 gave me some good advice. You need to have 2 big bags in the fighter business, one for fun and one for BS. When either one gets maxed out, it's time to leave. For most, the money is tertiary. The older your kids get, the more important it becomes.

Don't forget that the Fun-O-Meter has a significant time lag. If you start planning your exit when the reading drops, you have waited too long. The same rule applies to waiting for a rise in the BS-O-Meter.

Yup. When the BS full light is flickering you're about 8-12 months from full blown master warning light.

There isn't a shortage of folks going to UPT... yet. There isn't a shortage of experienced pilots to fly AF airplanes... yet. There's a shortage of experienced AF pilots staying in after their UPT commitment is up, putting up with all of the nonsense and BS, to fill non-flying staff jobs, RPA assignments, and to go on worthless 365s to terrible locations in support of never-ending, unwinnable wars that are essentially just big jobs programs.
If there's ever a shortage of bodies to go to UPT, the AF will first expand opportunities available for USAFA/ROTC/OTS, and extend the UPT commitment to 15 years after graduation, before ever raising the maximum age limit for UPT. By the time they raise the age limit or start giving out waivers, you'll be pushing 40.
So, I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. Sorry.
