I thought I saw two chutes in the spin video. Hope the first report was wrong.

Both things can be true.

Just because someone is under a chute initially doesn't mean they haven't all ready, or would not later, sustain fatal injuries.

Hacker is spot on.
Not counting today, I know two U-2 pilots that ejected, got a chute, but died.
