Maintaining seniority number
#11
If your goal is to get to a major, be careful. During interviews, majors are starting to look at logbooks to see if you worked on major holidays your first year at an airline to see if you took military leave then. If you go to a regional, plan on future airlines looking very closely at your leave records.
How can they determine why you didn't work over the holiday? Perhaps you weren't scheduled to fly. Perhaps you were on reserve and never flew. Maybe you were sick.
Is this really an issue or conspiracy?

I don't think your logbook is the only thing they look at. They may ask you directly about your attendance. If something seems fishy, they will dig further to find out if there is an issue. If you didn't fly because you were on reserve or you were senior enough, then there won't be an issue. However, the guy who shows up to get a seniority number and then doesn't show back up to the airline until his upgrade class is going to have to have a pretty good story to explain himself.
