Default What should I do?

Hi guys I don't know what I should do here's my situation. I'm buried in student loan debt ($80k plus) I have a bachelors degree but it is in aviation, so it's pretty much worthless right now. I have two jobs right now, and one of them is a flying job. I fly an aleras doing traffic watch with a reporter in the mornings. The other job is Fed Ex, I'm currently a courier thinking about upgrading to a manager. There's a manager at my station who started in the company only a year ago as a box thrower! I meet the pre reqs and starting salary is $62k a year If I'm making that kind of income I could pay a nice chuck of this debt off in a year and can finally breath. I really can't see how I can afford a place to live and pay my student loans at a regional fo's pay. I'm 25 with 400tt/10me I'm thinking the best move would be to take the manager job and still fly traffic watch if I can. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I would take the managerial position and try to work with that and your flying schedule...I would rather be a regional FO with no debt and lower time, than a regional FO with A TON of debt and higher time... think about it..

I'd do the Fedex thing and stay in flying as much as you can. Try to make some connections within Fedex.

I agree with everyone else. Go into becoming a regional FO with no debt.

Your starting salary is $62K/yr which leads me to believe that it will probably increase from there. I would upgrade to manager, live as inexpensive as you possibly could, and throw tons of money towards your student loans. Within two years (maybe less) you could be completely free of your student loan debt.

I would agree with everyone else on here. Take the manager job, get rid of the debt, NETWORK and make some good internal contacts, get to the regional in a few years to build hours, then come back in 5 years ready to fly for them!

I agree too, clear some of that debt and fly in your spare time as much as you can. With everything slowing down these days anyways you won't miss out on much. Good luck!
