Oh no kidding? I rub shoulders with a lot of the 1900/metro guys and they don't have TOO many bad things to say about AMF. They fly pretty consistently aswell. I just don't want to do the right seat to PIC program because 1: I'm pulling down around 30k as it is and 2: Once I hit 1500 I'll most likely bounce to the regionals. So I don't want to have to deal with a PIC contract after I hit 135 mins.

And what do you mean about being a**holes when going for the ride?

The Kool-Aid is strong at AMF. People there really thing that the turbine time in old turboprops really counts for something in the eyes of the 121 majors. They think that they will get hired at American/Delta/United before the regional captains that have 8 years in 121 with 10,000 hours TT and 5000 hours of PIC Jet time. It just isn't the case.

I learned a lot about flying at AMF, but one of the first things that I learned in the 121 world is that the time at AMF counts for nothing once you leave 135. There are guys with over 10,000 PIC Jet that are just getting called by the majors. Someone with a couple thousand hours in a Metro doesn't stand a chance.

If you are planning on going corporate, AMF is fine. Some places like the single pilot IFR in old turboprops. But the 121's want experience with airplanes that are similar to what they fly - glass with automation, passengers in the back, highly regimented, and in a crew environment.
Ever think that the 10k+ RJ Captains took so long to get on with the majors was because they work for a regional? The regionals have plenty of Kool-Aid to share as well. Ameriflight offers more than what most take the time to see.

Couldn't be more incorrect. The 10,000+ hour RJ CAs took that long because of Sept 11 and the 2008 recession. The sweet spot for an interview right now across the board is 4,500 hours right now. I would love to hear what Kool-Aid the regionals spew, other than new fleet types. Most have actual flow programs, and because of the number of regional pilots versus freight pilots, it wouldn't shock me if the hiring ratio was 1,000:1. It is a rediclious notion to think that the majors wouldn't hire regional pilots, really think about that for a minute or two

AMF offers some good things, it just depends on where you wanna go after. Because if it's Delta, it ain't happening.

Hi guys,

I received an email a couple of days ago from an Ameriflight recruiter talking about upcoming EMB-120 Captain openings and requesting a current resume. I didn't think it was possible to get hired directly into the 120 as a PIC but there is now a post on climbto350.com advertising the very same thing. Does anyone have anymore information regarding these openings? Thanks in advance guys!

The email I got said it was a brand new customer, and the new route would operate 365 days a year. They announced they're aquiring two EMB 120s.

Openings go internal first, but I'm sure they're anticipating a shortage of qualified and/or willing pilots to fill some of these openings.

From what I have heard, 2 more E120s is just the start. One of these runs actually starts next Monday.
