What do you guys think that fastest way to a jet is, other than the airlines? (cause they suck) AirNet and their Lears? Twin building somewhere then corporate?
and just so I dont get reamed for this question, I'm planning on flying a pilatus, so this question is strictly curiousity rather than a quest for a plan.
THe fastest way, in general, is to get yourself some twin time. There are many insurance requirements out there that will require 100, 250, 500 hours of twin time to fly right seat in that jet. Not all of course, but most. The pilatus is a nice airplane but if you want the FASTEST route to a jet, that is not it.

Yeah I'm not really searching for the fastest way to a jet, I think I will enjoy the Pilatus for awhile.
I just asked the question because I've always just been curious. Seems so easy to get in a jet if you go airlines, but so hard if you don't. Wish I could find the happy medium.
I miss the "recreational" flying as I called it. Renting a plane and flying down the beach with friends or flying to a small town and going out to eat some good BBQ.
No 2 hr briefing/debrief, no mission to complete, no gradesheet to complete, etc....
Just pure flying for the joy of flying.
After my friend and I recently completed our ATP he decided that he would like to get checked out at a local airport in a Piper Archer; but at a $145/hr, I don't see us doing to much of the FUN flying on the weekends!
I went from Baron/Caravan to the Lear and though I prefer the Learjet I still miss the Baron, its a fun plane and I have a lot of great memories. Not to mention there is something cool about single pilot flying.
On demand cargo will be your fastest way to a jet. I could have started flying in the right seat of our lears after only spending about 3 months in the right seat of our turboprops. I however look at things alittle differently, I like to fly low and look at the ground, I enjoy the ride. So I opted to upgrade to captain in our twin pistons when I got to 1,200hrs and now am captain in the turbo props. I figure I have probably about another 40 years of flying ahead of me, so I'll be flying a jet eventually, I'm not worried about jumping right in one now.
BTW Here's an example of a day enjoying the scenery. Yesterday I picked up in New Hampshire and flew down most of the east coast on V139 down at 6,000ft. It was VFR and the view was GREAT! Days like that are when I remember why I started flying to begin with. Jets are point A to B airplanes, and sometimes it's not about the destination, but the journey.
