Here again is the dreaded "Can I log SIC" question... First of all, I'm still probably a year away from looking for a job. I'm working on my CFI and will probably do that for a year (at a major collegiate aviation institution) and then am looking for a regional or maybe some part 135 action the east coast- Linear Air, Cape Air, etc.
So...how does the SIC program at Cape Air work? Is ANY of it loggable?
Currently, I'm a "Plus 1" pilot for a small 135 charter operation. A few weeks ago I took a trip in one of thier 402's and acctually only flew for .2 (which I logged as PIC). However, Part A015 of the Company Opspecs require that the autopilot be used in lieu of second in command, and the captain I flew with advised me NOT to log any of the time as "SIC" because of this rule. I think the company still needs another pilot flight crewmemember on the airplane for thier insurance. Any thoughts?
All Baron SICs at Airnet have taken a checkride and have a 135 letter for the airplane. If you do not have that I do not think you would be able to log any time.
If you have taken a company, 135 checkride and the ops. specs. says either SIC or Autopilot in lieu of SIC, then everytime you are acting PIC(sole controller), log PIC. Otherwise, when the PIC, or captain, is flying log SIC time. Hope this helps, but ask your captains. They should know.

Dude, don't go logging PIC if you're an SIC.
