Default Twin Piston PIC or SIC Turbine?

If anyone's been watching climbto350, you know that Key Lime is advertising quite a bit. They're offering positions for Metro / Lear FO with 500TT, and PIC Navajo with 850TT.

Which would be the more beneficial position? I'm attracted to the turbine time, but PIC also sounds delicious.

I'd say definitely ME PIC, but that's just me. That seems to be one of the hardest things to get for people just starting out, so I'd get it while the gettin's good!

ME PIC will open more doors for you low time. SIC time is generally worthless without the PIC to back it up other than padding total time. If you have an opportunity to upgrade from SIC to PIC in a reasonable time frame, it may be worth taking the job.

I'm sitting on 940TT, 830 PIC right now. I did apply for both positions, and I asked them how long it would take to get left seat if I took the SIC job. If they say that it'll be once I meet IFR 135 mins, I'd probably take the Metro / Lear SIC job. If the say longer... I suppose I'll take the PIC job and move on after a while.

We'll see if I even hear back... From what I read on other Key Lime posts, they take a while to respond, plus, I heard it's not a fantastic company to work for.

Well...I think you'll at least need an ATP to PIC the Lear/Metro, right?

PIC navajo will get you nowhere. Take the job in the metro / lear. to move to the next level you will need Multiengine TURBINE PIC. turbine SIC is better than piston PIC.

You will need 1500 TT to upgrade in the metro / lear because you will need an ATP.

Default Research

Do some research before you accept the job. I went to APA for an interview and was offered a few days later for SIC in the Metro/Lear. This was about 7 months ago. Before I accepted the job a friend of mine told me some horror stories about their maintenance dept. Also, there was a 2 year contract behind the paperwork. But, things may have changed. I was advise to do your research and make the best decision... 2 years is a long time to be terrified.

This is a good question, I've been pondering myself;

Which is more valuable PIC single turbine or PIC multi piston?

I'm thinking PIC single turbine since the airlines and major cargo operators don't operate pistons.

Unless I'm mistaken Key Lime is an all cargo operation. If their aircraft are configured for cargo (less than 10 pax seats), and the operation is unscheduled (not commuter) one could potentially escape the PIC ATP requirements of FAR 135.243(a)(1).
