Yeah that is a little too west. Didn't you guys get an EAS contrtact from the state of Oregon a few years ago?

Nope, I've never heard anything about that. Maybe we were thinking about it, but it hasn't happened since I've been here.

They talked about Oregon for a while but it never materialized I believe because of the other bids for the city pairs. About a year ago I was told the reason we haven't moved west is due more to the lack of airplanes than to lack of motivation.

I understand the 402's are equipped with Garmin 430's but what type of autopilots do they have. Just curious. Thanks.

Ha! Terrible ones for the most part. We have a mix of Cessna 400 Nav-O-Matics, King something-or-others, and for the few lucky ones, some S-Tec 55 and 55X's... But most of us hand fly when it matters; these autopilots are like terrible instrument students, and we treat them as such...

Does Cape Air conduct single-pilot operations on their EAS flights or is there a PIC & SIC in the C-402?

All 402 flying is single pilot flying as long as there's a "working" autopilot and no FO has been assigned (there is only a handful of FO's system wide).

If you're looking into STT/STX, there's a free weekly classifieds paper called the Island Trader that was very helpful, can be picked up at most gas stations/convenience stores down there. Spent a lot of time on craigslist and various other real estate websites, but 15 minutes with that paper making some phone calls turned out to be much more productive. We were able to negotiate the lease length/price also. Same with a vehicle if you're looking into one, don't be afraid to low-ball any offers, just the way things go, at least in the USVI from my experience.
