Low Time Multi Jobs

Pardon TallFlyer. Chalk it up to a momentary lapse of judgment due to the large raise he just got . Great Lakes has a dubious (poor) reputation- do yourself a favor and avoid that alternative. Ameriflight and Cape Air have decent reputations on these boards and many instructor jobs will take low-ME candidates and gradually put them in the twin if they are good in the single. The other thing you could do is get your MEI and by the time that is accomplished, you will have plenty of hours for most regional jobs.

Great Lakes also has a 15 month training contract you have to sign. So there won't be any "sticking it out for a few months and leaving." I also should mention I don't have a CFI and don't want to spend the money right now to get it.

I tell my closest friends to learn to flight instruct because it makes you a better person in about 49 ways. But if you really wish not to instruct, how about a block of multi engine time? You might have to unload trucks at Home Depot for 5 years like the rest of us for it, but it will get you what you need.

Stick it out a Great Lakes for a couple months and get some multi. I think most regionals are hiring at 100. Also, look at AirNet. I think back in the day they only wanted 50...granted, I don't know if they have a training contract.

Any flying job you take and leave before 1-2 years will not look favorably on your resume. Even if the job is hell, it still hurts to have short employment stints on your resume. If you're on the fence about working for a low-paying company, I would steer clear.
