Tell that to every single pilot at South West. (with the exception of the AirTran converts, which by the way I hear there is a big stink over them not having to buy their type)

Anyone currently working there with info? I see them all the time on the orange site. If you can get hired into the left seat it seems like a better regional to go to, $50K plus $45 an hour over guarantee. If you are looking for multi-crew PIC I would think there are worse places to go. What are their schedules, QOL etc...

are you referring to southwest as a regional and what makes you think it is possible to be hired as a captain ?

You need to take peoples quotes in context. The SW comment was a reply to someone saying you should never ever pay for any training after getting your commercial ticket. No one ever said SW was a regional. The entire conversation about being a captain is that Sun Air is hiring directly into the left seat and seems to be paying very well for it.

Ok. I appreciate you putting your comments into context for me.

Most 135 Navajos (ie. Key Lime, Ameriflight) are operated single-pilot IFR. While a Navajo is a bit more airplane for one person to manage than say a Caravan, it can be and usually is flown single pilot. I really do not get the reasoning behind this multi-crew application at Sun. Has anyone verified this is actually required by their 135 operating certificate? Are they also able to operate them single pilot too?

I am not in the know but my guess is that since these are EAS routes the Gov't requires somewhat of 121 standards.

Yes, but most are cargo birds, which don't require an autopilot to be installed for single pilot ops. IIRC, passenger ops require a functioning autopilot for single pilot ops, so that could be the obstacle. Cheaper to pay an FO peanuts than install the required autopilot.
