I encourage you doing this. Now that I have a few corporate flying gigs (all single pilot) I have guys ride along with me quite often. King Air and various single-engine turbo-props. I did some riding along myself in 310s, Lances, and Barons with a couple private contractors doing late night cargo I would run into. Can't hurt.
Do your homework tho. Make sure it is explicitly determined who is PIC. Had a guy bust Bravo in Socal with me on board and he made a half-hearted effort to pass some of the blame onto me.

You're not charging these guys to ride with you, are you?

That's correct, in the situation mentioned, I was the ride-along pilot, not the corporate pilot. I was paying the guy like $50 a night to let me fly the empty legs in his airplane (I was desperate for hours back in 2007-08 I regret doing this) On the leg he was flying (I was doing radios and checklists), he messed up one of the transition routes in the LA Basin and we got the good old phone number call. He kinda was hinting that I should call since I was the one doing radios and I told him no way, he was PIC.
They didn't violate him or anything, I just mentioned that so guys would be wary of that kind of thing happening.

Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but getting your CFI might be the best thing to consider. Not to say doing ride-alongs isn't valuable experience, but you'll always be PIC as an instructor and you'll have some invaluable learning experiences. I know you don't want to end up at a regional but all of the regional captains that I get a chance to speak with say that the FOs who are former flight instructors are always much better pilots in every aspect than those who chose not to go that route.

CFI

=GreenWater;1999495]You're probably right. I'm just concerned with being able to pay the bills as a CFI. The closest school to my town is about 45 minutes away and is not very busy.
Just thinking out loud, but if you are not sure on how to pay the bills working as a cfi, how do you plan on paying the bills riding along in some dudes plane for free??? Get your CFI, instruct and you will meet more than enough people to hitch rides with to log some time!!!
