Talking Young Aviator with funny story

So I am pretty young to be a commercial pilot, 19 to be exact. I am looking for some low time pilot jobs like Part 91 corporate or something similar, have experience with 91 flying. Any leads on anything, contacts ANYTHING? preferable based in NC SC area.
500 TT
170 AMEL
AGI & IGI
CFI,CFII,MEI

Funny story from today:
Walked into an interview for a 135 operation, guy looks at me, back at my resume, and then back at me and says "There's no way in hell you have these ratings and hours at your age. I wouldn't hire you simply because of your age." I grabbed my phone and walked straight out. Struggles of being young right?

Sounds like discrimination.

I got the same thing at your age, regularly. By the time I was your age, I'd been flying commercially for a year, spraying crops, as well as flying jumpers, turning wrenches, etc.

You'll run into it over and over, and it's not uncommon. I lost track of the number of passengers in the early years who asked to see my driver license, to verify my age.

You'll get used to it.

Back in the early 90's I left the USA and went to Greece with around 2400TT
Every job I applied to in Greece (at the time the private airline scene was starting with the deregulation laws applied by the EU) was seen with mistrust due to my TT. I was 28 yo at the time and I always ran into retired Greek Airforce Colonels and Majors and Brig Generals who had accumulated 5-6000 hours flying fighters after 25 years in service. As a matter of fact, I was accused by one retired colonel that I was parkering in my flight hours. couldn't have a leg to stand on when I used to whip out my ATP written results and show it to them, resulting in my not being considered further since nobody wanted a smart alec. lol

That guy is a discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen. As a former airport manager with hiring responsibilities, hiring based on age or even asking an applicant his age was a big no no.

I can't tell you the number of times I was told they were looking for somebody older at interview. It seems like the smaller the company, the more likely they are to ask inappropriate questions at an interview. Keep looking man and good luck!

Senior Mama F/As used to see a new-hire 727 S/O and say: "Aw, how cute. A baby pilot!"

You cannot discriminate against anyone 40 or older. There is no law against it under 40

Generally not a good idea to have your phone out in a job interview. Turned off and in your bag is where it belongs, or in your car if you have one.
