Aerial Mapping
Hey guys I am currently working for a survey company with a contract that terminates in late June. There is a chance we may be done by mid May. In the contract it states that voluntary termination requires a 2 week notice and payment of a contract breach. At this point in time I am about a week way from 1500 hours and have been receiving phone calls for interviews. Would it look bad for me to breach the contract or should I stick it out to the end? I don't want to be "that guy" but at the same time I don't feel like racking up the hours I don't need anymore and this job is utterly boring. Received some advice from a recruiter at one of the airlines and he told me to just put a notice in when I hit my time and start a class date in May. Any advice? Contract would cost me 1500bcks and I really don't mind paying it because I will spend that on hotel ,car , etc anyway.

You do realize that recruiters need warm bodies to fly their planes and they'll tell you anything to get you into class? I wouldn't burn that bridge if I were you. Any job application you fill out from now until you get your dream job, you're going to have to put down the contact information for your boss at this job. Who knows whether they'll call your boss or not, but do you want to have to worry about it?
And...lose the attitude. "I don't feel like racking up the hours I don't need anymore and this job is utterly boring." If it weren't for this job, you wouldn't have the 1500 hours you need to get on at a regional, so at least try to sound appreciative that you were given the opportunity over other applicants.

Stick it out. My greatest regret in aviation is burning a bridge with one of my first employers. I didn't raze it to the ground, we can still be cordial; and they didn't bad mouth me on my PRIA, but I regret it all the same.
