almost ATP minimums
Good day guys,
First time poster long time reader, I'm just looking for a bit of advice. I'm a Australian/American pilot & all of my experience is bush operations Single Engine VFR. Currently 300 hours pic and counting on the C208B, working on contract in Africa. I'm very keen too make the move early next year to the west coast and i'm looking at various regionals (yes shiny jet syndrome). I'll be roughly 1500-1700 hours with 6 hours night & 50 IF. How do I go about gaining my night hours? am I somewhat marketable in the US market in the part 135 or 91 industry given that I would be looking to move on fairly quickly.
thanks gents

You need the following your multi engine time as well. Honestly, I would come back to the US and see where you can get some cheap multi time, and fly it at night on a time building basis until you get your 25 hours in. Then fly the rest in a single. I'm assuming that you don't have a CFI which would be the easiest way.

md thanks for the response,
Ive got 35 multi from my instrument rating back in Australia. I'm honestly attempting to avoid buying time as 94 hours is quite a lot of bought "time". No CFI unfortunately..

If you've performed more than 20 night takeoffs and landings to a full stop, you can count each additional takeoff/landing pair as one hour of night flight time, up to 25 hours of total night credit. So really 75hrs + 45 takeoff/landings to full stop at night is the minimum requirement.

Get your required time to get on with PlaneSense on the East coast.
Fly for them for a year and you'll have loads of actual IFR, cross country, night and approaches.
Your "work experience" now is only VFR.
I'd work on that if I were you.

Thanks for the responses gents, I've sent a cv to boutique, planesense & surf air, fingers crossed. I am pretty keen to get some real world IFR before making the jump to the regionals.

I'm in the same boat...fast approaching 1500 with pipeline patrol...but not enough night or IFR time. Hard to patrol a pipeline in the dark or through the clouds!
Trying to get my multi-engine rating scheduled in the next couple days, then build my 25 hours...focusing on night and IFR work with that too!
If anyone wants to split some multi-engine time in Ohio, S Michigan, NE Indiana, or W Pennsylvania, shoot me a PM...
