Default Vasectomy

Ok, this might not be flight related, but I'm pretty sure it's something that many pilots do. That being said, for those of that have done it, are you ok with your decision. I'm speaking pain and comfort wise. I have read about certain side effects, and one being a constant pain to various degrees that last forever "down there" in 5-30% of the cases. I'm probably getting one and am just looking for some general info from those that have had it done already. Should I be nervous? Does it hurt?

I was going to go on a long discourse about this topic until I realized that, as a woman, I do not have the right anatomy and everything I post about it will be hearsay, which is inadmissible in a court of law so what use does it have here, I ask myself, and how do you like this run on sentence so far? My husband got the Big Snip. He must be one of the lucky ones because he did not experience any pain down there.

Good luck to you! It's the responsible thing to do.

well after 3 kids it NEEDS to be done. It's a sensitive area so I was just looking for some input. Thanks for the info about your husband. the more positive reactions I hear about, the less nervous I get.

It's a piece of cake. I scheduled mine for a thursday morning so that I could have the rest of that day and then a 3 day weekend to recover. I was back to work on monday.
I recommend a bag of frozen peas for the recovery, they can be moved around to fit any shape needed while you are lying on the couch.
You HAVE to lie on the couch and chill for those 4 days, trying to come back too soon will get you into trouble and that's where some guys get their long term pain problems from.
Oh and don't forget to clear lines before you think you are safe for action.
The doc will have you bring in a sample after a few weeks.
Good luck.

What are you trying to say in your Lawyer talk Vagabond?

"That your case is dimissed due to LACK of evidence"

Is it 100% effective?

Is it true that you can get it reversed?

While I cannot attest to actually having the procedure done, I have had a few procedures as part of fertility issues. They include 3 needles straight into the tool bag and minor surgery near the same spot as a vasectomy on the afore mentioned tool bag. The surgery was nothing compared to the hypodermics - the needles wiped me out for a few days. A few days of sitting with the boys on ice and it's over. The swelling (which may not occur because it was a slightly different procedure) isn't painful, it just feels like you've got 10 lbs of onions crammed in a 5 lb bag but no big deal.

I'm sorry for all that. If I were an old fighter pilot or currently one (which will never happen, but if it did, everyone should be very afraid), I would say something like "c'mon, forget the anesthesia. That's for chumps. Gimme some vodka. Use that rusty butter knife there. Just get on with it! I have a Hornet to fly and girls to chase."

I know of one old Hornet guy who would say that with a straight face.

Sorry, LeoSV, for the thread drift.

ok, thanks for the info. I don't know anybody around here that has had one so I appreciate it, and thanks for the 4 days on my back advice. I can't wait to have my wife and kids waiting on me hand and foot!! I need a REALLY loud bell. I definitely getting one. My post count will double during that time. I'll keep everybody updated on how "the boys" are doing.. ok, just kidding, I won't.
