Default Optic Neuritis

Greetings,

I had an episode of Optic Neuritis in my left eye for the first time ever. No other health issues, therefore the doctors don't know why I had it. My vision in the left eye is about 20/30, while the right is 20/20. Its been over two months, and still does not seem to improve. I can pass the color vision test with the color plates, but its not 20/20. I am still looking through a grey curtain with my left eye.
Does anybody have experience with Optic Neuritis? I am currently not working as a pilot, but have finished my flight training and need to renew my medical soon. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thank you
Pat

you may qual for a 3rd class ... in any event i woud process your exam for any class you desire and submit to faa deferring decision to hem. they will req records from you eye md and may want more testing. This condition usually resolves over time sometimes up to a year though.
