Anyone in the 10/22 class got their hotel info yet? Does it come FedEx like the FOM?

I'm driving up from MSN on Sunday. I've got a week's worth of dried and canned food...I can't believe I'm returning to the Ramen noodle diet.

How much studying over the FOM do you think is good to have done prior to starting class?

Don't get too bogged down with the FOM prior to coming to class. The intent of sending it out is to just have you open it up and gain some familiarity with the content and where to find the information. In class, you will be guided into sections for what specific pieces are at the top of the list of importance. Do not attempt to try to read it cover to cover before coming. Take a look at the tabs and the table of contents for each chapter and just have a general feel for where information is located. Your instructors will guide you through what particular sections should be "studied."

The most important part of the book is Chapter 4, Section 4.2.B. "Report and Release Times" if you know when to be at work and when you get off work, you are going to be just fine

An F/O friend of mine walked my resume in to Mesaba yesterday. How long does it usually take for them to call if they are going to? I am a low-timer, and I am very skeptical of my chances at this point, but he seems to think I will get an interview.

Again going to my theory that these "street captain" positions are just an advertisement. They are seeking higher time applicants and advertising very quick upgrade times. When they get an applicant with ATP minimums you are put into a pool, aka saab fo, and pulled into the CA seat when vancancies go unfilled, aka you fill the vacancy.

Does anyone know if these "street captain" positions pay captain wages out of the gate, or are we all still earning 22.75 per hour for 75 hours while in training.

BTW, this is not a negative theory, I'm very excited about the quick upgrade, positive morale and general good will going around. This is a good thing, street captain seems to have a negative connotation, it would seem that HR has found a way to get higher time applicants to Mesaba by advertising short if not almost instant upgrades when qualified.

Captain pay wouldn't start until after the completion of the PC/Type Rating. So, $22.81 during training.

Default NOVEMBER 5 CLASS Assignments

The November 5 class will be:

4 DTW CR9 FO
6 DTW SF3 FO
7 MEM SF3 FO

ALL of the captain vacancies were filled by current seniority list pilots. There will be no street captains in the 11-5 class according to this award.

Most junior captain remains an AUG-07 hire date.

Thanks for all the details RJ85. The 11/5 class might not be captains yet, but who knows, maybe by the end of training

Anyone on here in the September of October classes, or know people in those class, that has ATP mins already and could have upgraded if there were a spot, or was everyone in those two months fairly lower time?

There are more high(er) timers than I was expecting. So, in short, yeah there are.

Nice people and straight forward Interview.

I'm currently at Comair (2.5 years) and upgrade is at best probably a year or more away( talked to a guy who upgraded at year 5, it was his first opperunity) and that is for JFK. I'm from DTW so I'm hoping to get that. They said that is one of their junior bases, so there is a good chance I would get it eventually.
DTW is the junior base right now, so you would most likely get that right out of training.

Most junior CA on the award that came out today was 751 our of 777. Can't imagine it'll be much longer before they start calling you for a class date. We really need guys like you in here with some previous 121 experience. Good luck!
