According to the book, no. I know a guy here that does do it with specific permission from the Chief Pilot. He fly's mostly high-speeds here so the 1000 hour limit is never really an issue. I would say on a case-by-case basis you could get approval to do it.
I am certainly not advocating this, but I know of some who may on a day off fly a King Air and receive compensation.

Use your judgement, and do what you need to do.
As was mentioned before, flight instructing is allowed and does not count against your flight time limitations.
