tinpusher, what are your times? i have a class in Aug and am wondering if they are puttting high time guys in the jets or how they decided who goes to what plane, my class date they said they have all three planes starting so i could get either three, would it be worthwhile to call and request if i really wanted the 200 in msp?
Right now...Im just under 700tt with 55 multi. When I applied I had around 650tt/54 multi, so I am not at all a high time guy. And I don't believe my hours had anything to do with me getting the - 900. It seems they are simply placing butts in seats where they are needed.
I did hear a rumor that they like higher time guys in the Saab because it is less automated than the jet and harder to fly. They say the jet basically does everything for you. Im not claiming any of this to be true, just what I've heard. I don't know if calling to request a certain a/c would be a good idea or not, particularly if your request has you start later than they planned. I would take the first class you can get.

thanks for the advice, im sitting at 620TT and 300 ME, so i am not high time either, but being from near MSP i would like to get there ASAP when i start. SAAB or crj it doesnt matter, but it sounds like if i get the CRJ my chances are better at getting MSP than if i get the Saab.
any insight on how long it may take to get MSP, jet or saab, would be great, as i know this is uncertain, maybe just a rough idea or wild a$$ guess

From all that Ive heard MSP is the senior domicile. Its also my preference out of the three and I guess I lucked out by getting the -900 since the first four are going there, I assume thats where I'll be based.

I believe some Saab people currently in the sims (May new-hires) have already been awarded MSP... but who knows what it'll be like tomorrow and beyond...
If you can bring a car I would do it. There's a few groccery stores that are just a bit too far to walk to. Lifetime Fitness is 5 miles away (They give a NWA discount just bring your badge). There's a shuttle service to the training center and the airport from the hotel but they won't take you anywhere else. If you take a lift to the airport, you can ride the light rail to the Mall of America or to downtown MSP. Downtown is a great place to spend the weekend. Good restaurants, nightlife etc. You can also bike from the light rail to Lake Nickomis, Lake Calhoun, soccer fields etc. There's a pretty decent bike trail in Eagan to (Lebenon Hills), near the hotel.
Study hard but take time for yourself to decompress. At least two hours a day doing something that has nothing to do with aviation.
See ya on the line!
They will take you on grocery runs to Beyerlys or rainbow...ask the hotel clerk.

I think thats the best advice....leave your SJS at home and take the first available class. Seems to be a lot of people that are too good for a turboprop.
come on now, we all know QOL is most important. If i know i can get MSP right away if i get the CRJ, then give me the CRJ. because that is where my QOL will be the best. Dont knock me cause i want MSP and getting there would be quickest in the CRJ

I'm not knocking you.....all I'm saying is seniority means EVERYTHING (including QOL). The way things are moving here, waiting a month or so for that CRJ class could cost you by being 50-75 spots down the list from where you would have been had you taken the first class. And FWIW, you'd more than likely get MSP in the Saab by the time you finished training.
Just things to think about.
