I too got a no thanks letter from Compass without an interview and an inside friend pulling for me. I've had my stuff in at Mesaba for about 5 days and am hoping not to see another no thanks letter. We shall see. Fingers crossed as I really want to get back into flying full time again.

Hey Piston,

I can’t tell you anything about the 200 or the Saab, but for the 900, it was pretty well laid out. About 9 session including one for the CAT II. Then a ride for PIC and ride for the SIC on two consecutive days. Although I have heard that sometimes SIC getting a ride before the PIC. If all goes well, then the following day would be LOFT and you’re released to go home. I did my Cockpit Procedure Training in Montreal, simulator training in Denver, then the check ride in Montreal. But, it’s changed now from what I know. Mesaba now has its own sim that can be configured to both 200 and 900 and is up and running to the best of my knowledge in Eagan where the HQ is. I believe all it needs is a certification by FAA before they start training on it.

If you have more questions, feel free to post them and I’d reply in between my trips. You can also PM me if you have 900 specific questions or questions in general about anything related to ground, flight training, IOE and line flying.

can anyone answer this one, how is the new (used) sim in Eagan able to do 900 and 200 events? Aren't there some overhead panel/center pedestal differences? ECS/Bleeds/TR's etc.....

EDIT: Forgot that there is already a 200 sim up in Minn

not sure but I know the sim I used in denver said CRJ 200/700/705/900 on it so I am guessing they just swap out some panels and run different software.

Yeah I was out in denver to and I believe change a few settings and a few panels(plug and play) and away you go. Some sims are more swapable than others I would imagine. The minnie 200 sim I believe can be changed to a 900 but I don't think that one is "plug and play" ie mx on it for a few days and recertification. I am willing to bet the NEW 900 sim can be swapped readily but I don't think any thing was bought to change it. IE right now it is strictly a 900 sim.

Anybody got Steve Taylor's title? I just called trying to get it, the operator wouldn't put me through to HR and said to address my cover letter to Kristin Braam. Is that safe or is Taylor still the right one?

If I remember correctly Kristin was the one that gave me the call to set up the interview...so she would be a safe bet.

Either one is the correct, both work in HR, and both are great people and nice, good luck.
