Flying the saab gives you a good experience with a aircraft designed like a tank(a very cool tank at that). What makes you a better pilot is the willingness to learn and having a good attitude. Flying the 900 may not physically be a challenge like the saab with its human powered flight controls but the 900 does take a challenge in that you have to plan your movements with the aircraft. That same goes on the 200 you have to plan what you do with the aircraft. Now the only thing I wish is they would come out and say *** is gonna happen to the 200's? I mean 17 frames isnt going to be making much money.

G'day mates
THANK YOU!!! Reference the "Turbo prop vs Jet" thread going on.

Thanks! I have an interview coming up and I just don't want to be stuck at a hotel that's 10 miles away from the site. This is my first time interviewing with a regional airline. Has anyone interviewed with Mesaba just recently that's willing to PM me about what to expect etc... I feel like I'm going up against a firing squad.
Thanks

How'd the interview go? I have one on the 19th. Anyway you can PM me the gouge? I looked it up online and I was just looking to see if it has changed at all since last month. Thank you!

Are upgrade times different if you are placed on the Saab vs. the 900? How about reserve time comparison if you are based at the most junior base?

I stayed at the homestead suites for my interview. It is pretty much heralded as the worst hotel ever here by the mesaba pilots, but for a one night stay it worked out well.

and as far as a gouge...go to aviationinterviews.com there are some real good ones there.

And calm down! The interview people at mesaba are really great at making you feel comfortable. They arent out to get you.

As far as how long for an upgrade and reserve...that is way to far out to forecast. It all depends on how many aircraft we recieve, and other future events. This industry is a crap shoot. The bases have been going MSP, DTW, MEM as far as seniority goes.

I interviewed yesterday. There were 7 of us total and all of us were either working at a 121 carrier or were furloughed from a 121 carrier. All of us were given the conditional job offer.

Go to aviationinterviews.com and check out the gouges. There was nothing in my interview that isn't mentioned at that site. For the wonderlic, google "wonderlic practice tests." I actually found a few questions that I had in a practice test were on the wonderlic test we took.

Finally, RELAX. Don't freak out over this interview. It was a very laid back process and they're not out to get you. They want to get to know you and make sure you are a competent pilot.

No its not, they've been giving letters out that say bla bla bla we'll give you a job pending the outcome of your technical interview, your sim, your wonderlic and IFR test results, and your drug test. Basically it means the HR person liked you enough not to turn you down right on the spot. From the people that I interviewed with half got a letter and half that did get that letter didn't get the job. And we had quite a few ppl at my interview... 12 or 14 maybe?

So don't feel like you got the job, just because they gave you the "conditional" letter.

What is the status of the seatlock? I think I read that there is a 36 month seat lock. Does that prohibit you from upgrading? If you are awarded FO/900 does that prohibit you from upgrading to the Saab in say 1 year?
