The seat lock is 24 months and its just that, a seat lock in your position. It doesn't apply to upgrade, and Mesaba has been releasing CA seat locks so that Saab CA's move to the jets and upgrades go to the saab.

It's actually 36 months and is designed so a Saab FO doesn't jump to CRJ FO or vice versa at the first opportunity. You can upgrade whenever your seniority will allow it and you have the time.

Just out of curiousity, how do they select who is going to train in which aircraft? Is it just as needed or is it based on the individuals expereince.

I applied to them about 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything. Should I bother them by calling them or trying to make sure they at least have my stuff?

The average time to hear from XJ in recent months has been anywhere from a month to 6 weeks...I applied 9/29 and didn't hear from them until 11/7. They claim to be receiving between 100 and 150 resumes per day. If I understand what I've read from others on this thread, it seems that they are interviewing roughly 24 per week. If anyone has a correction to make, please do so.

I wouldn't call them, Simcole. The voice recording at HR explicitly states that they will not answer questions regarding application processing. I believe my buddy may have cost himself an interview by pushing his luck and asking. They should get back to you, but it takes some serious patience. Good luck to you, man.

Its based on aircraft needs. They just stick people into whatever aircraft is listed on the current vacancy. Seems to me that they are gonna need both Saab and 900 FO's and not too many more 200 FO's. We are getting more 900's, and the Saab FO's are where most of the upgrades seem to be coming from.

I know that msp is most senior and mem is junior but are the assigning people to be based out of msp at all? How long is it taking people to transfer back to msp?

I was hired in april and started in mem, then was able to go back to msp starting November. Right now it seems that people who can hold msp are already here, which is why new hires are going to every base.
