So where and when did this all start? I have a class for March but havent heard anything from Mesaba that anything has changed! How do we know this is definite and not temporary? Is there a published article that Delta is pulling out of Mesaba? I just see it as word of mouth right now and need clarification.

Oh its definitely for real. Its all on the Mesaba company website. There's a thread about it on APC too. A few guys have posted the memo there, so you can see it for yourself..............sucks.
everyone just relax!!! Delta is not "pulling out of mesaba" The memo says absolutely nothing about that. It simply says in regards to the 15 900s we were supposed to get, that ten of them will be reallocated to ASA because big D feels thats the best place for them for whatever their strategy is. We still are keeping 5 of those 15 airplanes. This is not the end of the world, the sky is not falling. Delta is not done with Mesaba. To think this is going way overboard and just creating panic for yourself. Yes it sucks if you are one of the people that had class canceled but you know what when they start classes up again you will be next in line for the job.

My best guess is there a "bigger picture" for Mesaba that is not ready for announcement. High morale, good performance, outstanding training section, reliable operations, award winning maintenance - these are the accomplishments you reward not punish. Sometimes short term trauma turns into long range benefits. I suggest if you were scheduled for a class and cancelled, don't take your name out of the pool.

A very good point. Well put. Everyone is forgetting that Mesaba is still getting the additional 5 CRJ9s after the initial 36 Mesaba received making Mesaba the largest CRJ900 operator in the US. ATL is DAL's HQ and now that the oil price has come down MD88s can cover the routes with more seats than CRJ9s. Mesaba getting 5 CRJ900 based out of SLC is a first step in Mesaba's growth towards the West.
Everyone needs to calm down and wait it out. I suspect next few months will reveal a clearer picture.
I guess that's the end of this thread..there won't be any such thing as "mesaba new hires" anymore.

Hate to say it man, but Comair had great morale, excellent performance (doubled the company record for 100% completion days this year), a phenomenal training department, reliable ops, and mx so award winning..that Mesaba gives their CRJs to Comair to fix.
But we all know how that's been going....

Uh oh! Going in to SLC is hostile territory! ha ha.....SkyWest guys are going to LOVE the new 900's going in and out of there. (That is sarcasm for those of you who can't sense that on here.) I think the SkyWest RJ guys and the Mainline-900-haters are going to have a hayday with this.

Are you trying to say that airline management decisions usually make sense?

I have to echo what Andy17 said too. ExpressJet was #1 or #2 for on-time arrivals and departures, as well as completion % for Delta and look what happened to all of our flying for Delta.
