Yes equipment is assigned before class. For the 9/24 class all 15 200's go to MSP and 15 Saabs go to DTW and MEM. I think the actual breakdown may be coming out today so stay tuned. Some of the current guys update us regularly with class & equipment info on here.

Sept 24 Class Breakdown

15 MSP CRJ FO
3 DTW SF3 FO
10 MEM SF3 FO

Most junior MSP SF3 FO was hired in Jun 2007. Move date is Dec 1...so, it is taking about 5-6 months to hold MSP on the Saab.

If you are awareded the SF3, you will bid in your class for the open bases (3 DTW and 10 MEM for Sept 24). Seniority in your class is based on age, so to guarantee DTW, you will need to be in the top 3 age wise of the Saab class.

The most junior DTW SF3 FO was hired into MEM in August. Move date is Dec 1, so about 2 months wait (if that) to get DTW from MEM.

Any thoughts on which base (DTW or MEM) is better to hold a reserve line at, and how long reserve is lasting?

DTW is just a quantum leap ahead of MEM as far as comfort and choice of lines etc. Reserve is reserve, but I would much rather be on reserve in DTW than in MEM.

I would expect 2-3 months of "reserve", not because you can't hold a line, but due to the number of IOE trips and green lines that prevent you from holding one. Build-up lines are a good choice if you are on reserve, since they are running about 50-100% trips. You will fly on reserve though, so there won't be a lot of sitting around.

I was notified on 8/20 for the 9/10 so that might give you an idea.

9/10 class numbers seem to be correct.

9/24 SF34 class looks like:[if I count correctly]
10 MEM SF3 FO
3 DTW SF3 FO
Move date Dec. 1.

I was told with the offer, seems like most if not everyone has been told before class.

In the September bid MEM SF3 FO there were:
10 regular lines
14 green lines
4 reserve lines
4 build-up/reserve lines

I was awarded reserve, and all the green lines may keep me there for a bit, who knows. Haven't looked at DTW or talked to anyone who had class before me.
