Not necessarily. There is a reason management hasn't said anything about this. If we were losing planes, we would be furloughing. Plus, why would you spend all that money on painting and refurbishing the a/c.

True....but management might have just found out about this. I hope there is something else coming!

From the article:

McCutcheon also received a personal e-mail Friday afternoon from Delta’s Amy Martin. She reiterated that Mesaba is pulling all of its bids, saying, “We have made the decision this week to reduce our Saab 340 fleet this fall. Because of this, we have asked Mesaba to withdraw their application for the EAS subsidy for HOT, ELD, JBR, HRO, MKL and OWB.


What does this mean for us?

uh...."reduce the Saab 340 fleet this fall"....I take that as getting rid of some Saabs. Would such an announcement be made to a local southern city newspaper before the pilot group?

We haven't repainted all of the planes nor have we refurbished all of the planes. There are still several that are unchanged. Maybe those would be the ones they'd take out of service IF that happens. I just don't see why they'd do that. I hope that Delta has "other" plans for the planes. Maybe plans that would bring in more money.

I am not at all surprised to hear Saabs going away, I just figured they'd go in 2012 along with our contract negotiations and the end of the leases. Perhaps not. This would also explain some of the whispers I've been hearing. This could create quite a mess of displacements and many furloughs come fall.....
