Do you think that takes into account those who took the voluntary?

There is absolutely no way to tell. The company sets the final amount of total furloughs, and it's not over until the day that recalls begin.

There are so many other things we could have negotiated for...what about better reserve rules, enhanced recall rules, or better deadhead pay just to name a few. I know how as pilot we are distracted by shiny new things so I can understand why the new crew room (which according to contract they had to do anyways) has enticed many of you to agree to this MCB. So I am going to take a page from you and say I hope you enjoy the new plush crew rooms and hope it was worth 110 pilots getting pushed to the street. I just think it seems like a waste of some great leverage we have against the company right now!!!
You are getting pushed to the street NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!! And I did get 'the point." You want the gains of the MCB to benefit the furloughs! Read your post! It started out great; but finished with something about "off the backs of the furloughs."

I agree with you about the issues the company should've already handled - the crew rooms, IOE grievance etc; we shouldn't give the MCB LOA away for something the company has dragged their feet on. Thank God the LOA didn't pass.

I am sorry about your furlough; sincerely. We are all glad most people felt the same regarding the LOA as you did - it didn't pass.

As for the MCB, it's a dead issue this time per the D.O. and since the first displacement bid is out. Back in 05 the company took all the voluntary furloughs then still furloughed the original numbers in addition to the voluntaries. The D.O. would NOT promise the same would NOT happen again so who knows. My advice is if you are in the bottom 125 start looking for work elsewhere. If you have a seniority number higher than 600, have a backup plan to be ready to be furloughed by 2012. Heck you probably should make that number 500 just to be safe (all relative).

Holy crap you're always so positive.
You really think we will shrink by half in the next 3 years?

Unfortunately, it's clear that Delta doesn't care whatsoever about our performance, safety record or value.

It is also clear that Delta has no love for the Saabs.

Last of all, it is clear that RA was lying when he said there would be no furloughs associated with the merger. There will be plenty of furloughs at the DC regionals. The easiest cuts to make are at Comair and Mesaba.

Welcome to Delta's world.

Ask your next senior captain to tell you the tale of the sham bankruptcy. That bloodbath only took a year or so.

It's not me being positive or negative.... Well ok maybe a little. It's me looking at several factors, history says when our contract is due up in 2012 we will be the target for cuts. Delta is showing right now that ANY way they can cut airframes they are doing so, doesn't matter if it's a Saab or 747. If a lease is up the plane is gone. With the loss in court against Mesa that leaves Compass, Comair, and Mesaba as the easiest/cheapest place to make more cuts if needed. They can cut block hours (and subsuquently need less pilots) easiest at the W/O's. We have been told that Saab and 200 hours are decreasing and 900 is staying steady in the fall. It's been said over and over that there WILL be cuts in the DCI family. There will be less companies flying for Delta in the near future. The question is who stays and who goes.
If you plan for the worst case scenario then anything better is a bonus. If you plan for the best case scenario then if it doesn't pan out you're in trouble.
