Delta is showing right now that ANY way they can cut airframes they are doing so, doesn't matter if it's a Saab or 747. If a lease is up the plane is gone. With the loss in court against Mesa that leaves Compass, Comair, and Mesaba as the easiest/cheapest place to make more cuts if needed. They can cut block hours (and subsuquently need less pilots) easiest at the W/O's. We have been told that Saab and 200 hours are decreasing and 900 is staying steady in the fall. It's been said over and over that there WILL be cuts in the DCI family. There will be less companies flying for Delta in the near future. The question is who stays and who goes.
If you plan for the worst case scenario then anything better is a bonus. If you plan for the best case scenario then if it doesn't pan out you're in trouble.

I agree with you on this with one limitation, time. After a decade or so of doing it, its better to just live frugally and ignore bad negative news all together until it actually happens. Makes for more happy days and possibly less unnecessary bad days if it never comes to fruition. Too many of us have had to constantly live under "threats" of bad times for too long. Its no way to live.

Any idea when those 39 will be done? Class date on the notice was for the July 27th. Maybe they will go at the same time as the voluntaries on Aug 4th. Which mean I will be in the next wave to go

That's my guess. Aug 4 for this group but I don't know for sure.

Fair enough, I concede that.

Question for someone who may be displaced, but not yet in danger of furlough. I'm a Saab FO and don't want to switch bases, If I put 900 FO for my base as my next choice and am displaced, I wouldn't be subjected to a seatlock would I?

Everything I've seen indicates no seatlock for displacements, but I thought I'd verify, not that I'm too worried about upgrades in the near future.

You are correct, no seatlock if you are displaced.

Less than the cost to print the checks...

Furlough doesn't mean the airline is losing money...necessarily.
