In general, are we feeling the shortage, or are we doing alright?

From what I have heard, we are keeping pace with the training schedules right now. NWA has slowed the CRJ deliveries so we can focus in on the 900 program and get it running as solidly as possible. I have heard of a few no shows, and last minute reject calls. HR has been doing a great job of filling any vacancy in a class on short notice. A few have not made it through training. Once we start taking delivery of the CRJ's and the CR9's in the same months, things are going to get tight. I think we will feel it more in the late winter/early spring.
As a line pilot I am sure you are well aware of the scheduling/staffing issues. We are holding okay on FO's this month, but short on Captains on the Saab. (Thus, back to back vacancies). It is a struggle to keep things balanced when you upgrade a bunch then you get short on the FO side for a month or two. We are also rapidly approaching the issue of upgrade minimums. In about 3 or 4 more vacancies, the junior captain could be from a 2007 new hire class. None of which will have accumulated the requisite 1000 hours of Mesaba block time. I am trying to probe for info as to if a LOA will be required to fill captain vacancies in the coming months.
2008 is going to be a VERY interesting year for Mesaba. Hold on!
