hey yeah, we just got the word today that benefits changed. i don't do a lot of traveling (well none actually, except commuting to work and back) but i did see that it changed for the worst. i don't know what it said for you asa guys, but for us at skywest, it changed to us paying $5/segment and $0.01/mile for domestic flights on delta and other delta connection carriers. we can still fly for free on skywest (gee, isn't that nice), but i don't know about us flying on asa, for example. i also know nothing about international stuff, and wouldn't know how, if at all, that changed. but going from free to $5/segment and $0.01/mile domestically seems like a bad change. delta has been trying to get money out of us for years, and it looks like it finally happened. of course, we also have to pay $50/year (no small fee, in my opinion) just to use the delta skynet load lookup and listing junk. i don't know if you asa guys have to do that also or not? anyway, that's my take on the changes for skywest. what is your situation?

So if you are listing on the jumpseat then its free?? That is just stupid. They are going to push even more pilots and FA's out of this business. Ive talked with many FA's who just put up with this job for the pass travel after they retire. If they start doing this at comair a lot of our FA's will be really upset.

We’ve agreed to mutual changes to our nonrevenue pass travel policies with Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines after ASA was purchased by fellow Connection carrier SkyWest in 2005. Starting Dec. 1, Delta employees will have a boarding priority of S3C on ASA aircraft and similarly ASA employees will travel S3C on Delta mainline aircraft. The changes apply just to pleasure travel; company business travel policies are not changing.
“We know that these changes may impact some Delta employees that commute or travel frequently to cities served by ASA,” said Rob Kight, v.p.-Compensation, Benefits and Services. “However, this approach is consistent with the way we handle travel with SkyWest and most of our other Delta Connection partners. Overall we feel this solution does the best job of protecting the ability of Delta employees to access the Delta mainline system while still providing access to an important part of our system.”
The current S2 and S3 boarding priorities won’t apply after Dec. 1. You still can use the emergency S1A priority if the situation qualifies for emergency travel as defined in Human Resources Practices Manual section 1014. There will continue to be no per-flight fees for you to travel on ASA.

Here's the Internal Memo from Rob Kight:

Internal Memorandum
Date:August 23, 2007To:All Delta EmployeesFrom:Rob Kight, Vice-President Compensation, Benefits & ServicesSubject:Rob Memo: Change to boarding priority on ASA flights
This month marks the two-year anniversary of Delta's sale of ASA to SkyWest Inc. The transaction was a critical component of Delta’s transformation helping us achieve important financial objectives. However, a transaction of this magnitude is not completed overnight and there were many details to sort out and finalize over time.
After months of negotiations between our companies, this week, Delta signed a number of agreements with SkyWest Airlines and ASA finalizing several outstanding post-sale items, including pass travel for Delta employees on ASA aircraft and pass travel for ASA employees on Delta mainline aircraft. Effective Dec. 1, 2007, Delta employees will have a boarding priority of S3C on ASA aircraft and similarly ASA employees will travel S3C on Delta mainline aircraft. Currently, both Delta and ASA employees can use S2 and S3 priorities on both Delta mainline and ASA aircraft. These changes apply only to pleasure travel. Company business travel will not be impacted.
We know that these changes may impact some Delta employees that commute or travel frequently to cities served by ASA. However, this approach is consistent with the way we handle travel with SkyWest and most of our other Delta Connection partners. In fact, throughout the industry, most mainline carriers use this approach with their respective regional airline partners. Overall we feel this solution does the best job of protecting the ability of Delta employees to access the Delta mainline system while still providing access to an important part of our system. Operational leaders in In-Flight, Flight Operations, and Airport Customer Service will provide further details about these changes in division-specific communications over the several days. In addition, you can find FAQs and other helpful information on the Pass Travel site on DeltaNet.

Don,

the way I read it, the answer is yes. We (ASA) now have to pay to ride on Delta, DCI and Skywest. The same is true for you. What really burns my *** is the way I read it, Delta employees incur no fee on anything.

ASA and Delta have unlimited jumpseat so if there is a seat on my 700, its all yours.

That goes for any Skywest pilot, I may be less than pleased about the anti union crowd, but no one should play politics with the jumpseat. Lets stick together on this one!

Skywest pilots and ASA pilots need to come together on this and help each other out.

riddle eagle,

first, consider a new user ID, you will get destroyed on line if that gets out!!

Secondly, it is only stupid if you only consider pilots. F/A, gate agents, mechanics, GO staff, etc. all will be affected and obviously not have the ability to jumpseat. My guess is that they are doing this on purpose to reduce the number of non revs.

I think thats pretty much what I said let me clarify my point.

5 seats available in back and 1 up front.

1 ASA(or skywest) pilot DOH 06/90
1 ASA(or skywest) pilot DOH 07/93
5 Skywest rampers DOH 1 month ago

If the pilots (or replace pilots with FAs) don't want to pay the $20 fee to go to work and the rampies going on vacation pay the $20's, all of the rampies who would be junior to both pilots, would get seats in the back. While pilot 1 would get the jumpseat and pilot 2 is left at the gate.

As the jumpseat and Non-rev list are separate in the delta system.(try and see how much it ****es off a gate agent if you put yourself on both) And the Non-Revs get cleared before the Jumpseater.

Pilot 2 calls in and says he cant make it and from talking with friends at ASA that means flight canceled due to staffing.

I hope Im wrong in the way I interpret this but I fear Im not.

The rumor is this one is going to get handed down to all DCI carriers. I have yet to see it here at CHQ...but it wouldn't surprise me. FWIW, ASA/SKW also are now bumped down to S3C (I believe you were formally just S3) which is on par with what we list under at RAH. I have no idea if you guys can still utilize S2's or not. Also I didn't see anything about buddy passes on mainline...I know ASA gets (got) them.

Weird, I didn't see anything about that. The only changes I saw were on the United side. its no longer a mileage fee for economy. Its all free. 1st and business class are 65% off ZED fare for domestic and 50% off ZED fare for international. I'm pretty sure thats how it was worded, I'll probably edit this *after* I go look it up. doh!

Lame! I just logged on and saw what you're talking about. bah!

This is what the United side is like now.

Effective November 1, 2007 for all employees eligible for United Enhanced Travel:

• Economy, Domestic and International – waived service charges (applicable taxes and fees apply).
• First Class, Domestic and International – Premium cabin prices will be discounted 65% off ZED fares for U.S. domestic travel and discounted 50% off ZED fares for international travel

looks like you guys are going the way pinnacle did about a year ago. we used to have to pay to fly on any nwa flight, and pay a 50 dollar user fee per person per year. they finally got rid of that and we can fly for free now. they only thing that we need help with now is our stupid buddy passes.
