CVG is dead. Actually going to be dead. I don't see DL having 3 hubs (DTW, MSP, and CVG) so close to each other. The whole OH displacement to JFK is just the beginning for things to come in CVG. My guess is, OH will be completely out of there by year's end. Followed by DL next year. Sad indeed.
That's what I'm hearing. Our PL's told us we have till September to find a place to go to in customer service, they said to expect a significant reduction in flights as CVG is going to be reduced from hub status. Lots of folks leaving the midwest but my question is- where are they going, Texas?

I don't know what to think. After the merge is complete, DL will have ATL, JFK, MEM, CVG, DTW, MSP, SLC, and in a smaller scale LAX, as hubs. By sheer operation load I venture to guess that besides CVG going away, MEM would be another candidate. MSP and DTW flying is set by contract with the airport authorities, JFK -well there's only so much you can do there-. Hence ATL may grow tremendously, and so would SLC. It is going to be interesting to say the least.
For those furloughed guys/gals with the travel companion:
Like Paok said, it shouldn't be a problem. I called the Pass Bureau this morning and was told that "Companions" have unlimited travel, both domestic and "Trans-Oceanic". Where as, we the employees get only 18 flights overseas.
Was there ever any resolution to scheduling giving out RR to Long Call guys. They have assigned me one for 3 days from now. Changed my LC to RR.
I find it hard to believe that they have already gone through the daily rundown for 3 days from now and that the most junior folks on the list weren't available.

Not 100% true...we have 18 no yield fare trans oceanic one-way's...after that..we pay the yield fare like everyone else
Your travel companion has "unlimited" because he/she pays yield fare no matter what..but can go as many times as they please.

Pilot Reallocation and Displacement Bid 2009-02 20-Mar-2009
Cancellation of Pilot Reallocation and Displacement Bid 2009-01
Representatives from Comair management and ALPA leadership met over the last two days to discuss the current bid that was released on March 14th. Both sides worked collaboratively to resolve issues and have jointly agreed to re-post the bid to incorporate required communication. Effective immediately, Reallocation and Displacement Bid 2009-01 is canceled.
What the heck does this mean? They are going to finally run it the way they should have?
Correct me if I am wrong, but will doing things the way they should have been done allow senior guys the opportunity to bid? The way the company was doing it before, if you were a 17 year CA you wouldn't be able to bid at all, because you weren't in the displacement line of fire. Now that same 17 year guy can bid to go to JFK on his own and therefor hold a line vs. stay in CVG and be on reserve.
This could change things. It's only fair though. That's the way the contract was written.
