I'm getting a little sick of hearing all the complaints about being bankrupt, unemployed, etc.
Yes, Comair did furlough nearly 300 of us (including me), but so did thousands of other companies around the world. So instead of sitting here on APC and wasting all your efforts on writting posts - why dont you pick up a job - ANY JOB. Since I was let go in October I've worked construction, web design on the side, now managing a pool, taking real estate classes and strating my MBA. The point is - take a job anywhere, many places are starting to hire. It may not be as glorious as an Airline Pilot - but hey, Your bills are paid, you have something to do, and you dont sit around APC complaining about how evil Comair is.
It's 1300 and we are out of reserves as usual. My trip has turned into ferrying an airplane up and down the east coast. No paperwork and no people! Could life be any better!

Personal Responsibility.
Im glad everyone can be as fortunate as you. This forum is like a grief community for some, allows people to vent frustration. There is certainly no need to post how you are tired of all the complaints.

Only 18 guys are still working because of the 65 change (I thought it would be more)
There should be less people on the list too... Isn't the company suppose to take you off the list if you get a job for another airline? Because they're not.

They don't have to take you off the list if you work for another airline. However, they are supposed to take you off of the seniority list if you resign.

So I finally got to reading one of the last few VARS that was sent out.....
Please, oh please don't tell me that you have the opportunity to meet with the Board of Directors and shareholders (very important people to voice concerns to) and the highest priority issue you talk to them about are the flight benefits?!? Maybe mention of the guys on the streets, the short staffing issue that is effecting everyone, or maybe that the pilots that are there are busting their chops to insure there shares remain at some value?? (Granted, it seems that we do continue to pump money into our owner, a.k.a Delta)
Also, this public demonstration that is going to take place tomorrow......... Have our fearless leaders played this one out in their head? We are going to hand out stuff and b!tch to PAYING customers (who are already irate that they payed "soooo" much for a ticket and other misc. fees) about how we still fly for free but just not as easy. How is that going to go?? I wonder if pax are going to give a rat's @ss. How about we leaflet some MAJOR issues at hand that can get the public eye's attention. Such as staffing levels, which could maybe bring some furloughed guys back and/or highly improve the QOL of the pilots on property who are busting their @ss day in and day out.
I am not trying to sound like the anti-union. Because, well I am not. Our union and any union is a required necessity in the labor field that we work in. If it wasn't for them, Management would walk all over us worse than they are. The positive aspects of the QOL that we hold today is because our union fought hard for it, and for that I am (as we all are) greatly appreciate towards it.
I agree that we deserve a better grade of pass benefits, but I am also glad that Mother D did not drop the hammer like she did on Pinnacle or the other contractors out there. I understand that we are wholly owned and like I said we deserve something better. I hope that the Union can come together with DL to find some resolution that all parties can be happy with without p!ssing off the hand that feeds.
However, I feel that there are a lot more IMPORTANT issues at hand that can use the energy and movement the Union is using for better pass benefits. (Media, Leaflets, Websites, Petitions, Etc.....) Where was it when FO's of close to 2 years of loyalty (like myself) to the company were hitting the streets? Maybe it was there, but it was more behind the scenes.....at least I like to think that.
Ok. Sorry for the rant, but does anyone else feel the way I do about this subject or is it just me?
