Richard Anderson, CEO of Delta Airlines, stated in a press release today, "We are happy to be merging the operations of Comair and Mesaba into one wholly owned entity. It will allow us to save money by consolidating both airlines, closing Comair's general offices and maintenance facilities in Cincinnati and moving essential personnel to MSP, where they will integrate with Mesaba's personnel, already in place. This new, yet to be named, airline will provide a valuable service to our customers, by providing a seamless transition from mainline to regional flights." When asked about, the now defunct, Mesa Airlines, Mr. Anderson said, "We are sad to see any airline go out of business, but we see no need to replace the lift from Freedom Airlines (a subsidirary of Mesa Airlines). These flights were mainly to serve the Cincinnati market, and since we (Delta) are scaling back CVG operations, the lift is no longer needed." An unnamed source in Atlanta, Georgia was quoted as saying, "I told ya so!"

You had me going there for a second. This sounds exactly like it's real! (Except the "I told ya so")

Negotiations usually start in the fall, but it's not amendable until 2011.

Nope. My buddy there told me they have about 1250 applications for 30 slots. So they are going to be pretty selective.
