Default Trans States / Industry Article

This little article came out in the STL paper the other day, mentioning trans states airlines, and the state of pilots in the industry...some of things are nice to have pointed out, but other pieces of it might be "insulting" to some of the aviators. either way, not a "terrible" article, considering the media.

Haha awesome to see Ben Church on there. He was fun to fly with on reserve a few times.

Am I the only person who read the comment about TSA's 545 cockpit seats and wondered how exactly they came up with that number?
545 seats / 2 seats per plane = 272 and a half aircraft
Even if we count the jumpseat in that number, that still gives TSA about 180 aircraft. Have you all really done that much expansion since I left?

Even if they had that many planes I would love to see the seating arrangment to move 20% of the nations passengers. "Trans States Airlines, that fly about 20 percent of the nation's air passengers".

Did they forget to move the decimal two places over?

I'm betting the writer intended to say that regional airlines fly 20% of the nations passengers.

No you just didn't quote the entire sentence.

And it's having a profound effect on the dozens of regional airlines, like Bridgeton-based Trans States Airlines, that fly about 20 percent of the nation's air passengers ...

The author probably meant 545 pilots is how many Trans States needs to keep staffed.

"Now is the pilots' time," Jannik said. "Now is the time that we get it back."
