Housing in Memphis
I saw another thread on this topic in a search, but it was about a year old.
I'm looking for an affordable place in the Memphis area, and was wondering what sources the rest of you have used to find housing. I don't have any aspirations of buying or renting an entire house or condo. I'm single with no kids and just need to rent a room from somebody until my longevity increases enough to afford my own place. I've been watching CraigsList and Roommates.com, but it seems like most people just want too much.
Does anybody know of any other places I could look on the internet to find cheap, roommate-type housing like I'm looking for? Or, if anybody on here has anything available, please PM me. Thanks!

At this point, I'd bet there are plenty of NWA/Pinnacle/Mesaba guys looking to sell... unless they are holding out hope for FedEx.... And even if they are, there will be plenty of Pinnacle/Mesaba that will have to short sale sooner than later if they don't get hired by FedEx

Downtown you can find a place from 6-900 bucks. Lived there for years no problems and easy drive to MEM. Things have been getting proggressively worse though, so you might want to consider Germantown. I had to leave....sick of the politics and self entitlement.

I use to live in the Memphis area. Your best bet might be Southaven MS nar Walls. It is about a 10 minute drive from KMEM. Just go south on Airways to stateline road then west to Walls. Olive Branch is a bit pricey that is to the east where flight safety has the RJ sims. Download an app called Trulia it lists rentals on a map. It has overlys of crime rates, school districts taxes flood zones etc. Good schools= nice area. Dont even think about Marion AR. in the winter a good frost will shut down the bridges and you will be stuck. As for Walls MS Stateline road and 301, go south from stateline, on the left is a storage facility and just past it on left briarwood drive take a drive through there as there are some decent crash pad places and the neighborhodd his abiet quiet. Some places the rent was 400 for a small house. Here is another thought. Northcreek apartments right on statelne sits on a golf course and lease is reasonable. You could rent one then sublease out the extra room and be your own crashpad s-lord. Good luck. Oh and backpage.com has rental listings as well as an alternative to Craigslist.
