This last week I had the joy of flying with Captain Buttonpusher! Yep, it seems that he couldn't sit still for two minutes without touching something on the panel. In fact, he loved pushing buttons so much, half of the time I found him doing my responsibilities, just because he couldn't resist keeping his fingers busy. I must admit, I found this to be extremely annoying. On the last leg of the trip, we had just taken off (he was hand flying) and ATC gave us a 180 degree turn and a new altitude. Before I could finish replying, he had managed to spin the heading knob, pushed heading select and had begun the turn. Unfortunately, he couldn't hand fly and push buttons at the same time. Suddenly a loud voice shouted "Bank Angle" "Bank Angle." This joker had managed to get us into a 50 degree bank just because he couldn't help himself and had to push buttons instead of calling for and asking me to do it. I guarantee that I will do my best to never ever fly with him again!
Anyone else have any similar stories? Also, how have any of you handled these types of ADHD personalities?

I spin my own heading bug, set up my own FMS, spin my own altitudes when I fly. If its crazy turbulent or just to much going on capts do it with out me asking. Now on a line check, thats a diffrent story.

I just rotate and flare every two legs and sometimes hand fly an ILS..... does that make me a bad person?!
HOLY CRAP!!! We are professional pilots here!!!!! You should let the AP fly that approach to the lowest mins certified by your operating specs. Grown up!!

lol the ADHD personalities are the ones who forget to put the landing gears down.

Generally Capt Buttonpusher is insecure, boring, and not a very good pilot....9 times out of 10 they critique the crap out of you whilst you fly, but they are ham-fisted when it comes to their turn
Capt.Happyhour....Now HE'S a legend !

Now deceased, an old mentor told me the story of a fellow DC-3 Capt with a F/O who love to keep busy. The Capt had been through the war so not much got him excited. With the power in idle and in a descent, the F/O was 'fast fingering' around the cockpit, adjusting everything and was able to take BOTH mixtures to cut-off.
The old Capt said, "Well, you gadget grabbin' knob twisting sonofa*****, I hope you have finally made yourself happy!"
At my old house, we had a Capt known as "Flickers" because he was constantly twiddling with stuff. Never shut down an engine but he was watched very closely.

Man I have certainly flown with these types. If the AP is off and they feel the need to to spin their own heading bug, altitude, etc....and it jacks their hand flying I don't say much unless it gets out of hand. If its my leg with the autopilot on and they start finger dancin' on the FGC then I'm going to kindly ask them to not touch my FGC while I am PF. If it continues I'll wait until we are on the ground, at the gate, door closed and it gets uglier. I've had to do it and it makes a difference. Some guys just don't realize they are doing it and a friendly reminder goes along way.
