This was a little bit of a shock but it leads me to think of a few things.

Without knowing how they are moving tails around the system, it seems they can't place the "Frontier" aircraft with another carrier. 10% is a big number which also leads me to believe that the future deliveries may also be in jeopardy or are already under negotiations to be cancelled. Only time will tell how this pans out.

BB terminated the SAAB probationary pilots after 9/11 because they weren't needed. You could have been online a month on the jet and safe, but if you were on the SAAB in your 11 month you could have been gone with no recall rights. With the different fleet types, if RAH determines it would cost more money to retrain a bunch of people with a furghlough than fire them, they would probably lean towards firing. I don't know the details but it looks like even AirTran may be firing the probabtionary pilots there.

No one ever accused him of being a good man. Just good at management/numbers. As far as a company goes he's always done a stellar job. As far as the employees are concerned you have to watch your back.

Andy, if it's any consolation, you guys/gals are some fine folks at Comair. Always been a pleasure to talk with in and around the terminals/on flights, so I feel you're worth much more than grade F feed......I'd say Fancy Feast, too!!

Thank you, it's nice to hear that!

I'm thinking there's not much better than fancy feast though....

I do not know where you people get 177 pilots. No word on how many pilots will be furloughed. The only thing released is 500 or 10% will be let go. Hmmmmm, if I got back to my math days in school, 500 is 10% of what? I have it, 5000. We do not have 5000 pilots, but we do have 5000 employees.

G-Dog, I know what you mean. News articles are saying 500, however, BB memo doesn't have ANY number or % in it, unless my eyes are so old I can't read correctly and should go ahead and by those damn bi-focals. Really, though, his memo to us DID NOT say any #. I'm sure someone knows something, just not ME.....

like I said earlier, what the hell do I know??? I'm just a number, happy to get my kibbles twice a month. (And hopefully to continue getting those kibbles)

There's been talk of about 175 pilots from higher up. Higher ups in Crew planning gave that number and told us to expect to hear of furloughs by mid July. So far everything I was told was dead on. Outside of pilots the rest will be FAs and a couple of crew schedulers. This "management" talk you see in BBs letter will amount to nothing.
