JEtstream 32 Type rating
Hi everyone,
I really need your hepl on this one. I am looking for a place to do my Jetstream 32 type rating. I only found Flight Safety and it's damn expensive! Something like 15,000 bux. I kept searching for centers in the US or even Canada but othing came out. So if you think you have info, please let me know. Here's my email address : [email protected] Hope to hear from you soon ;) |
Pan Am International Flight Training Academy in Dulles, Virginia (Outside of Washington, DC) has a Jetstream 32 simulator. It is in the building that was the primary training center for Atlantic Coast Airlines/Independence Air.
You might try them... they might be negotiable in their costs, but not quite sure. http://www.panamacademy.com/regional.asp?id=37 Pan Am International Flight Training Academy 22375 Broderick Drive Dulles, VA 20166 (703) 433-2201 Ask for Ralph Leech (I think that's his name. He's the Center Manager) |
Panam
I called Panam and they said they did not do the type rating anymore which is kina messed cuz it looks like Flight Safety is in a monoply situation.
IS there some other place you know guez, come on ??? |
Out of curiousity, why are you investing the money into a J32 type? I would think that there are many other types that you could acquire that would be much more useful if you really had to purchase one.
As a general rule, any company should type rate you in the course of your employement (during either new hire or upgrade training depending on the company/operation). |

Maybe he is in a hurry to loose his hearing. |
spending money
I'm in no hurry to loose my hearing or anything. A company is proposing me a job if I get my type raitng. I am not really willing to pay for the TR, I just wanted to gather information in case the Manager promises the job if I come type rated. Honnestly, I don't think it's a good deal, but hey! I'm a low time pilot in Europe, what can I do.
Any other idea would be welcome. :( |

You hvae a point
I'm supposed to talk to the manager in a few days. I know he needs pilots and doesn't ask you to hvae time on time.
Yeah, I am thinking about asking him to pay for the TR and sign a contract. In case he doesn't want to pay for it, do u think I shuld let it go? |
Air Polygamy,
What are your times? |
Sounds like pie in the sky. Lets be realistic. If your total time is low the company's insurance company may not let you fly left seat. Therefore, why do you need a type rating. However, if he's willing to pay for training, then tell him you will sign a training bond in return for your commitment to the company for a certain number of years.
Bottom line is to remember.. if it sounds to good to be true... it is... and this doen't even sound like a good deal. |
