You have GOT to be kidding me! That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. The stupid fu*^ing TSA breaks 9 of Eagle's planes, causing damage that has yet to be totaled, causing hundreds of people to miss connections, costing the airline even more money, then has the gall to levy fines on them?!? Unbelievable!

The idiocy and arrogance (dangerous combination, by the way) of this agency baffles me on a near-daily basis.

FYI: Aero-news posted a follow-up; it looks like this TSA agent has done such (terrorist?) acts before.. and that the agency is encouraging such behavior.

Good Gawdamighty.

TSA agents are good for one thing and one thing only. Stacking trays.

This moronic behaivor does not surprise me one bit.

I was once told by a TSA person, that they have trouble distinguishing between a cell phone and a knife on the x-ray machine display.

Am I missing something here? Has there been a memo I overlooked where we now have locks installed on the main cabin and service doors? Or can anyone still access an aircraft by the incredibly complicated method of simply opening the door? Is it no longer SOP to secure RONs by pulling the jetbridge? And how was the inspector unable to get on board two of these aircraft!?!

Stupid question since I'm instrument rated and should probably know this: What is TOTAL air temperature? Total of what?

Absolutely..................the FREAKING doors aren't locked!!!!!!!!! What the hell do they expect? Other than that pathetic little security sticker what's going to keep anyone from entering an a/c.

OK, here's how we solve this problem................we'll install a viper car alarm with door locks (keep the keys with ops) on all the a/c and if that doesn't keep these idiots away then....................snakes on the plane!

Total Air Temperature (TAT) is a term used generally in aviation. In other applications it is called stagnation temperature. Total air temperature is measured by a specially designed temperature probe mounted on the surface of the aircraft. The probe is designed to bring the air to rest relative to the aircraft. As the air is brought to rest kinetic energy is converted to internal energy. The air is compressed and experiences an adiabatic increase in temperature. Therefore total air temperature is higher than the static (or ambient) air temperature.

Total air temperature is an essential input to an air data computer in order to enable computation of static air temperature and hence true airspeed.
