I really hope not. No offense but enough with the street captains, lets upgrade from within with the people that meet the mins. There are some of us out there now.

Man I hope to God we don't. I am sick of flying with street ca's with ZERO time in type. I have to double check everything they do all the while making less money then them in the right seat.

We have plenty of guys eligible for upgrade (me included) waiting.

I second the street captain thoughts. We have plenty of currently qualified pilots on our seniority list who could hold Captain if need be. I still have no idea why they hired Q street captains. They could have had an open bid for Q captains with the minimums listed and the most senior bidders who were qualified should have gotten it. The first class in training averaged 2000TT+ for the reason that we could upgrade if needed within a year or so and then they hired guys off the street. Alpa is coming....

I would be peeved if they hired saab street captains as well because myself as well as probably 100 qualified guys above me would bid it in a second.

they hired street CA's becuase its cheaper to do that. If they upgraded a SAAB guy to the Q, then they have to replace the SAAB guy, both the CA that left and the F/O that is moving into the CA spot,ya know the one that just went to the Q..................and dont forget street CA's are on 1st yr pay

Glad to hear no furloughs, good luck with the Union drive

A Captain transitioning from the Beech or Saab is likely to have ZERO time in type as well, so I don't quite follow your logic. The street Captains, I'm sure, appreciate your vigilance. Don't go complacent with those Capts. that transition to the Q.

Good luck on your upgrade.

Got a call yesterday from PNCL. Looking to interview in SEPT.
Talked to someone at Colgan today, looking to hire?
I think something is coming...

Hey ya'll can yah help me with some info on Colgan. I have an interview scheduled in September. Are you guys getting additional Saab flying, or just relocating Airways flying to United? Any thoughts at all for upgrade times, and upgrade requirements? Any word on requirement to resign recall rights? I'm pumped for the interview being furloughed and all but hesitant with the training contract...

FL450- Where do you want to go? Is your primary goal to work part 121? If so then I would probably go to Colgan. You will fly a ton (more than the air ambulance gig) I average around 85 hours per month and NEVER pick up open time. The Q is not a jet but it is not frowned upon because of its 65,000lb weight and the fadec, glass and speed. Upgrades are who knows right now. Maybe 2-3 years or so? The company is not great but has been good to me in the nearly year I have been here. Me personally I would take the 135 job because that is where I would want to be but thats just me.

KBRONC-Cant help you with the more airways flying or united flying but the word is that all the airways displaced saabs are going to IAD for whatever that is worth. Upgrade times..who knows as I mentioned above. This time last year it was 12 months now I am thinking more like 2-3+ years and you may have to go to the saab to upgrade first but again I have no idea. Yesterday we were furloughing, today we are hiring, go figure. Upgrade requirements for the Q are 3000TT but that is slightly flexible because I know for a fact we have captains with less than that (not much less.) Saab I think is around 2000TT but again I know a few that sneaked by closer to 1500. The beech is going away so it doesnt matter. They would prefer 1000 in type as well. I wouldnt resign my number at another airline either and I doubt they will ask. If they do just tell them you will because I cant imagine in a million years colgan would check...or know how to. Training contract sucks but a year goes by fast. What are your times?
