For an airline pilot, yes it is working for nothing.

What CRJ200 is saying is that for the amount of sacrifice we have to make, we don't get compensated as well as another college graduate white collar worker.

Also people like DENpilot have forgotten that he/she is still working under the same work rules as the days of the tprop where if you spent more than 2 or 3 years at a commuter you were weird. Now those days are gone and a good percentage if not half our flying is done by RJ pilots who make pretty much the same amount of money as those guys back in the day!! It's a little close minded to say, I'm happy at my RJ job because this is what I expect to be paid at an entry level job. Well think again, because you might be there for a long time.

On what grounds do you believe this? If you do some quick research, you'll find that the $60 mil is new money. Meaning, this time last year we had much less. We've found ways to put small amounts of money in the bank, all the while, paying Aloha and Hawaiian a combined $54 mil.

So, using that logic, how will be go bankrupt if we're slowly making money?

Before you say it, I understand that we owe $100 mil in the spring. But, if we are slowly making money, and have settled our lawsuits, don't you think the canadians will be more open to the idea of deferring some of the money?

P.S. Who's the idiot who thinks we took the Midwest guy's jobs?

question: HOW MANY PILOTS LIVES ARE SELFISH MESA PILOTS GOING TO RUIN IN 2009?
Hang on, let me stop laughing... Okay. Do you mind explaining to me how any pilot is responsible for the actions of their management? If you want to hold pilots to the flames over decisions that their management has made at one time or another you might as well make hate-mongering your full-time day job because you're going to have an awful lot of fish to fry. Probably the majority of your fellow pilots.

The fact of the matter is that as pilots we do not control what our management does and often we don't condone it either. I feel terrible for Aloha pilots and wish them all the best. I couldn't agree more that Mesa planes painted in Aloha livery is outrageously disrespectful to those that lost their jobs. Unfortunately I'm also a realist, and realize that business is business. I have to wonder if some of you have ever taken business classes in college. You live in a capitalist country where business is cut throat. If the opportunity to make money is present, someone is going to take it. Mesa saw the opportunity to make money in Hawaii and took it. Any other regional would have done the same if they had the means. If you think RAH held out just because they liked Aloha and didn't want to hurt them by entering the market, your wrong. Based on your argument you must despise Southwest and their pilots for what their doing to Frontier in Denver, right? Ooo those evil, conspiring, despicable Southwest pilots. They must just make your blood boil!

Question: HOW MANY PILOTS LIVES ARE SELFISH SOUTHWEST PILOTS GOING TO RUIN IN 2009?

Here is my problem with statements like this, they are so ridiculous, bias and ignorant that they hardly warrant a response. I lower the standards of your diamond studded, glamorous regional airline industry? Let me start out by saying, I'm so, so sorry. This statement reminds me of a story...

I was working at the customer service desk at Target when I was about 16 years old. A lady came to the return counter with a broken vase inside of a plastic sac. The vase was broken into about 100 pieces and she demanded a refund. She argued and yelled all the way up to the store manager before she finally got her refund which was given to her more to get her out of the store than for any other reason.

Why does this story remind me of your post? Because you and that lady are doing the exact same thing. Shifting the blame away from yourself to others. It was Target's fault that she dropped and broke her vase and it's my fault that your life as a regional airline pilot sucks. Sorry I ruined your life, bro!

I really think that it is ignorance and hatred like this that tears our industry apart. So many of you can't see through the b.s. to fact that we're all pilots just trying to wring a drop of quality of life out of an industry that has taken and taken from us. As of now there is NO regional I can think of that treats pilots the way we deserve to be treated. Those of you who want to hate and grovel about this regional or that regional are missing the big picture. Pilots need to wage a war against all regional management in order to succeed, not a war between pilots. The longer you focus your energy on hating your fellow pilots, the further this industry will fall.

I would love one of you Mesa bashers to come out from hiding behind your keyboard and argue this silliness with me in person. After two years of flying for Mesa, I've yet to have one person say anything to my face, and I jumpseat on other regionals a lot. I guess it's a lot easier when you can hide behind anonymity.

I get paid what I expect for just entering this industry.

I entered this industry knowing full well it would involve furloughs, liquidation of airlines, etc. It's part of the industry, it's very cutthroat. If you can't stomach that, then maybe this is not the right career path for you. I knew how upset I was when Delta canceled their CRJ contract and caused my furlough. Especially when they were making up reasons for it. (Anyone with two brain cells and is Mesa grudge-free can see the real reasons for the cancelation.) However, as under-handed as it is, I would never wish the job losses of the thousands who work there. Thousands at Mesa make a living there, and Mesa's demise would be devastating for those individuals. For someone to wish that upon another makes me sick. Especially over something like this.
What Delta did is not underhanded by any means. I'm sorry you got furloughed becuase of it, but the real blame rests on JO himself. I can have a grudge against JO because I worked for the guy. I was part of management at MAG. I know all the crap you don't get to see or hear. He feeds you what he wants you to see. It's all a false reality for MAG employees. All of us who weren't mindless zombies saw the writing on the wall and have left for greener pastures. I really feel sorry for those who have stuck with it mostly due to they need a the job. I have several friends still there, but they know that MAG is in a world of hurt and are affraid of what future has instore for MAG. It's really unfortunate that the MAG pilots get the blame for all of JO's work.

come on man... what are you, from the east bay?

in paragraph one you state nothing against mesa pilots or employees.

in paragraph two you inform a mesa employee that he lowers the standards or YOUR industry and screws YOUR brothers and sisters... well i dont think he's too interested in your brother... but perhaps your sister.

it appears as if your hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Aloha was an outdated business model. The fares were expensive and I know when I went to HI years ago, we were not able to afford the fare. It's not like YV went in, lowered the fares, put Aloha out of business, then raised the fares to prior levels. That would have been wrong....
oh please. Outdated buisness model? Ok Mesa was HI knight in shining armor when they brought 50 seat

It's alot more than 2 million, the losses for HI alone in last years financials were around 20 million so far and I'll bet they haven't made anything yet. JO could also lose his job if Burkle takes a board seat and manages to get a controlling interest in the company. Bottom line, he is a crappy businessman or else his company wouldn't be teetering on the edge of bankruptcy.
