Default Minimum age for aEagle?

Hey guys, kind new to this forum I'm 19 and have been playing the CFi game out of N14 and KVAY since the summer... Ive been talking to alot of people from various regionals and have a contact at eagle where i can get my resume personally handed in... Now i"m hoping that they will be hiring again around april/may (I know there has been speculation!) because thats when i'll have enough multi to be slightly competitive and I'll be finished with this A&P school im going to for college credits and a backup plan.... It says on their website that the minimum age to apply is 21 but my one contact from eagle USED to hire pilots and do interviews for them... when i asked him if my age would be a factor he said he hired quite a few 19 and 20 year olds and he even hired one 18 year old which i could hardly believe so anyone know if this 21 age mark thing is actually enforced or is it bull*hit... also anyone know if there is a minimum age for AWAC Skywest or any other regionals?? P.S ill be 20 in April but that shouldn't really help much..

I'm pretty sure if you can't enjoy a beer with the crew, you can't fly for them.

Go somewhere where you can upgrade in a reasonable amount of time. The only thing that holds any weight on future resumes is "Turbine PIC" SIC time is almost worthless, and you will get loads of that if you decide to go to Eagle.

Well, they have stopped granting Long Term Leaves in most bases already, so their staffing overload must be dropping to something they consider level....

Sorry to bust your bubble..... but what might have been considered competative last year will not even come close to what they will be hiring in the spring whe everybody expects hiring to resume. There are way way too many 121 pilots on the street right now... they will be flooded with experienced airline pilots, who have already proven themselves capable of passing a 121 training program.... plan on that backup plan being used more quickly than you anticipate... Of course, you do have the wild card of having somebody walk your resume in; but with the number of "walked in" resumes they get... whomever is walking it in for you needs to have at least a little juice to push you up over the higher time, already proven folks.

Just stop right there. The "used to" part is where it stops. Just like they "used to" hire 300 hour pilots. Does it mean hiring low time, or that hiring under 21 will not ever happen again; no. But for now, it ain't happening.

Really? Do you have any idea how many Eagle FO's bailed over the last several years to mainline company's with only SIC time? Probably not, or you wouldn't make the statement.

Is PIC time better? Yes, absolutely... but that doesn't mean you can't/won't be hired without it.... it just means you need alot (ALOT) more SIC time to be hired than if you had PIC time.

I am bailing to Mesaba if they hire me after my interview next week. No growth potential at Eagle. I dont want to operate the thrust levers with my left hand for 10 years.

All I said was they aren't approving more LTOA's out of most bases... what formula they use to draw the line and say no is beyond my pay grade...

Dude, I suffered at Eagle for a long time (7 yrs). You can fool yourself all you want that you will bail to a mainline with all that right seat time. But then again, you probably still work there, so I can see the glass half full attitude. I'm trying to convince this young fella' to go somewhere, anywhere, but Eagle. Pay is horrible, upgrade is horrendous, not to mention all the 5-leg/9hr overnights. The people you work with are awesome and I still have many friends, but if I can convince ONE pilot to take another path, my job is done.

Eagle should hire at 17 so they will be ready for upgrade at 27.
