Pinnacle freezing executive pay, planning layoffs : Business News : Memphis Commercial Appeal

Couple of notes.

1st Pay freeze for management. Pilots have been on a pay freeze for the last 5 years

2nd Layoffs. 50 people system wide. i was told by some management people that this does not include pilots and even with all the reductions we are still short on the fo' side according to the guy i talked to.

3rd i dont see anymore displacments coming. especially since like the article stated we are almost at a 50/50 split between captains and fo's after the displacement. you always need a few more captains than fo's due to several reasons including vacation, better schedules, etc etc.
Thanks Airsupport for your thoughts. Things are definitely on the downhill side.. and i guess they can only get worse from here.. before any chances of things getting better. Dont see that happening in the near future. I really hope everyone is able to keep their jobs and stick it out in these difficult times, its so tragic to see so many people out on the streets looking to start their lives all over again. 2009 will be another testing year for everyone.. I guess its another year where most people should be prepared for a rough ride, although i sincerely hope the displacements dont take effect in March and the 50 layoffs mentioned, somehow dont happen. Best of Luck to all out there!

Management loves to work on fear and it has appeared there campaign before negotiations has done the work designed. Think about the situation our company is in... We are profitable (cost plus), Colgan is expected to start turning a profit in 09. Our company is simply trimming all the fat as it works to streamline the Colgan, 9E NW side, and 9E DL side all under one roof. We are displacing to "balance" CA's and FO's with the reduction of marketing hours while the company kept our staffing up to be able and accept more or keep the 5 extra -900's we were only operating "temporarily". This same stuff has been pulled in the past and will remain to be pulled. Look at how it was done- a company only conference call by Clive. Contract negotiations and "doom and gloom" that is different than the SEC (and what is legally "supposed to" be true). This company is loving the fact that the entire company can be manipulated by scary thoughts. In the last 4 days while working I have heard more rumors (negative) than I have ever heard- unfortunately they are all bits and pieces from the company conference call + the telephone game. Think for yourselves and use all the proper facts. You must filter through politics, tactic, and source to get the info you truly seek. Thats alot of junk to sift through with this company. I am pretty good at naming folks lately. We have bin laden, mr. memo, barney (I give mooney the props there), and now Debbie Downer. Next week we shall see what OTAF brings.....

Yea yea... another thread closed. I don't know everyone here but I do know why we are here- as airline pilots (or aspiring) we are paid to make the best decisions with all available facts. Fear from speculation does not factor in, preparation does- my shoes are shined. Let's go for a walk.

That would be correct and I explained that to the user who PM'ed me about it. We don't allow profanity at the forums so I locked it rather than giving out infractions. We are trying to keep the forums professional. Thanks.
