I substitute teach at the high school level and it is great. I show up, pop the movie in/read the lesson plan to the students and then kick back and read a book/magazine/newspaper. I give the school my days off each month and if they need me, they call on that day. The nice thing is you can always say NO.

Oh yeah, and did I mention how much older high school girls look these days?

The only thing that sucks is that you will be one of the most qualified employees i the store and be on the bottom of the totem pole like you are now.

A plus is you can be flexible with hours and get some extra cash. And a little exercise by being on your feet all day.
Why would you assume you are the most qualified? Your prob the same guy that puts the bread on the bottom.

I think he's saying that on paper you would be the most qualified person for the job. That does not always translate into postive results on the job.

It all depends what regional your going to fly for. Some regionals will fly the crap out of you on reserve.

Your enthusiasm and work ethic seem to be top notch, but you may want to get a feeling for your companies reserve schedule before applying for a second job. At one point on reserve i was getting down to 7-8 days off per month 98 ish hours of flight time, and those days off were just crash on the couch and sleep as much as possible days/do laundry and pack or the next day .

So try and plan out a budget that will allow you to survive on your regional base salary(try not to laugh). Then if you have the time and energy after you get on line, look around for something extra.

I have never gone more than about one or two days on reserve without flying, normally i was flying everyday, and the phone was ringing 15min. before my reserve time started, flying to the very ends of my duty/flight time limits everyday. especially in the winter. 14-16 hour duty days 5-6 days a week when it snows. Bumping up against 30 in 7 continuously.

Not complaining it may my paychecks look a bit better, but its a bit exhausting.

Who do you work for? Where are you based? I've got some good ideas for you, but that stuff is essential info for any recommendations...

Is that just in your base or system-wide??? I think I'd be looking into some psychiatric care and reviewing ALPA's disability insurance coverage if I were you...I think you could go out on medical leave for mental instability and draw a disability check...your only explanation needed would be "I'm a 6th year regional FO on reserve again."
